Reminder

Just a reminder for all of you if I haven't made myself clear...

The media are very powerful. We all know that. However, we must realize that the media essentially mirror our wants, desires, and fears with the goal of changing our attitudes. We should realize that we should shy away from blaming the product and rather think about what the media is trying to tell us about the product.
Demerit goods are in this sense controversial because they have a higher probability to be "blamed" for the flaws of our current society. However, before you take out your pitchforks and go kill every smoker, gambler, and alcoholic out there in the fight for a healthy society, think about what kind of society you want to live in. Due to the media, the society is currently putting restrictions and limitations on demerit goods, but think about it- do you want to live in a restricted society?

Remember, be open-minded :)

Oh, and one last thing, I'm not trying to promote smoking, drinking, and gambling. I'm just trying to say that there are two sides to everything and as much as we think about these risks, we should take these campaigns with a grain of salt. After all, you are the consumer, make an educated decision :)
